Having impressions of your teeth used to be considered a long and sometimes uncomfortable process. Physical impressions require you to bite into a mold for extended periods of time, which is problematic for patients with a sensitive gag reflex. This is why our team at SEDA Dental is proud to offer a modern alternative to physical molds with 3D impressions. Using the advanced technology of intraoral cameras, 3D (also known as digital) impressions take precise scans of your teeth. This enables us to create an accurate model of your teeth that can be utilized to create dental restorations, like implants, crowns, onlays, inlays, dentures, and more. If you are in need of restorative dental work, avoid the stress and time of physical molds with 3D impressions at SEDA Dental in Boynton Beach, FL.

3D impressions are great for patients of all ages who have a strong gag reflex and/or people who want to avoid the stress of impressions. At SEDA Dental, we utilize 3D impressions should you need a custom restoration, such as a crown, bridge, inlay, onlay, dentures, or removable aligners (like Invisalign or ClearCorrect). 3D impressions are great for creating precise, digital models of your teeth that can be sent directly to a dental laboratory or an in-office CEREC machine.
What to Expect
During this procedure, you will lie back in the treatment chair while the small scanning wand is passed around your mouth. This tool utilizes blue wavelength light to precisely capture all areas, corners, and crevices of your teeth. After the scanning is finished, a model of your teeth will appear on the monitor. If any areas were missed during the initial scan, a very simple re-scan can be administered to catch the additional areas, compared to using dental molds, which would require the entire process to be repeated.
When your 3D scans have been completed, they will be sent to a dental lab or our in-office CEREC machine. Once your restoration or orthodontic treatment has been made based on your 3D impressions, we will be able to complete your treatment. Our team will keep your digital scans with your file. This will make it easier if you need a replacement restoration and to compare changes in your teeth.
If you have dental insurance, it may cover your 3D impressions. We can help coordinate your coverage with your insurance company. We are happy to work with you to ensure that the payment process is handled smoothly and we will inform you of any out-of-pocket expenses. If you do not have insurance, SEDA Dental accepts many payment methods, and we can help you find medical financing.
